Novak Djokovic

Born 22nd of May 1987 in Belgrade, Novak Djokovic is currently the world’s top ranked tennis player and of course, my first blog must begin with the best. He is currently living in Monte Carlo, Monaco with his wife and new born baby boy. Travelling the world, Novak Djokovic is accompanied by legend and former grand slam winner Boris Becker as a coach and a mentor. He holds several men’s tennis open Era records including the youngest player to reach the semi-finals of all four grand slams tournaments and competing in the longest singles grand slam final ( 5 hours, 53 minutes). Novak Djokovic has won several awards including the 2012 and 2015 Laureus World Sports Award for Sportsman of the Year.

Record in grand slams

Novak Djokovic has won a total of nine grand slam titles, 5 Australian Opens, 3 Wimbledons and 1 Us Open. This puts him 8th on the all time most grand slam titles record. In 2011 he won three out of the four grand slam titles becoming only the 6th man in history to do so.

            Playing style

Novak Djokovic is known as an all- court player with emphasis on aggressive baseline play. Although not having the best serve in men's tennis, he makes up for it as his ground strokes are consistent, deep and penetrating. Coming from me, he has the best backhand in the world! Since 2013 when Boris Becker joined his coaching team, Novak has hugely improved his volleying skills which has led him to win more and more world titles.

Off court antics

Although being an extremely talented tennis player, Novak Djokovic is very well known for his impressions of other  fellow professional tennis players. His impressions have become very popular on you-tube. Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and John Macenroe are just a few examples of the victims to his impressions.
